Removal of information

[edit]

Hello, I have removed some unsourced and potentially libelous information from this article. If you have a reputable source for it, please add it back and cite the source as per WP:CITE. Thanks, Johntex\talk 01:14, 29 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Billy & the Boingers/Strip compilations

[edit]

Under the "Books" section, "Billy and the Boingers: Bootleg" is the only strip compilation listed, although there were many others. I'd like to either add the complete list of compilations or remove this one. It should be all or nothing. Any feelings either way? PacificBoy 19:54, 14 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Pronounciation

[edit]

Can anyone shed some light on the pronounciation of his surname? --84.208.86.182 16:51, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I believe it's pronounced breth-hed. — Loadmaster 16:55, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks :)--84.208.86.182 17:16, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New Breathed vs. Old Breathed

[edit]

Would it be relevant to compare BB's current (irrelevant) work with his old (fantastic) work and the inclusion of his quote "The really scary dinosaurs aren't in Calvin and Hobbes; they're scattered around the rest of the page, ancient, unmovable, and dodging extinction. Some of the better TV series have left the party while they were still having fun. It seems reasonable that cartoonists show the same good sense."

I can probably find an article on that. There's no way to not be bothered by this discrepancy —Preceding unsigned comment added by VTNC (talkcontribs) 05:54, 18 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think it's WP:NPOV to call his newer work "irrelevent". —Torc. (Talk.) 06:17, 18 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Billy and the Boingers Record

[edit]

If anyone can find some detailed information, such as the recording of this item, I think it would be a terriffic addition to BB's page. It's not very often that a collection of comics comes with two songs by the cartoonist's fake band! Jman234 (talk) 16:51, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Much of the text of this article seems to be lifted word for word from Breathed's own web page. This creates a serious problem with copyright. 67.170.193.56 (talk) —Preceding undated comment was added at 19:40, 17 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Specifically, significant portions of the text are lifted or closely paraphrased from the "About Berkeley" page, http://www.berkeleybreathed.com/pages/About.asp trystero11 (talk) 17:48, 16 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
WhisperToMe and I have investigated. That site appears to have copied our article, on or just before May 21, 2007. Everyone loves Wikipedia! -- Quiddity (talk) 04:05, 21 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Illness??

[edit]

Does anybody have any information about Breathed's illness? I've read about it a little in the comments section on Salon.com on Sundays when Opus runs. It's pretty apparent that Opus is drawing to a close, and there's no information about that on the Opus wikipedia page either. --AstroZombieDC (talk) 03:13, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I came here looking for information about his illness, and found the information about it had just been deleted by someone, so I reverted their revert to put it back in. It is a real condition, and he appears to be dying from it. Dream Focus (talk) 01:38, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
These edits need to be referenced. Please read Wikipedia:BLP WhisperToMe (talk) 02:03, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Then you put a citation needed tag on something, you don't just keep erasing it. And every single newspaper out there list it. He announces it himself in one of his comics. You don't need to have reference tags throughout an entire article, for every single sentence in the article. Dream Focus (talk) 22:57, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Please cite the source for "dying". Nothing on Spasmodic torticollis indicates that it's fatal. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.82.43.120 (talk) 15:14, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

2008 Presidential Election

[edit]

Oliver's dad once told Binkley's dad that "the first black president will be a conservative." Ironic that Breathed retired just as he was proven wrong... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 165.97.69.26 (talk) 23:19, 20 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand the cheerleader outfit reference

[edit]

What is supposed to be conveyed by the "head to toe" phrase in this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.237.177.99 (talk) 13:20, 20 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Last Opus comic available in Internet Archive

[edit]

I beg indulgence as I know nothing about Wikipedia editing standards.

The article notes that the page with the last Opus comic no longer exists on the Humane Society web site. However, it may be found in the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine. Here's the link: http://web.archive.org/web/20090316204130/http://hsus.org/forms/the_opus_contest.html

I don't know it this is sufficiently interesting to be included or what the standards are for referencing external links within the bod of an article, so I hesitate to make any change myself. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.187.201.126 (talk) 00:33, 21 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
