Merge proposal

[edit]

We should merge Grassmann integral into this page. The scope and contents of both pages is virtually the same (and can be migrated easily), and Berezin integral is the more standard term (this is even being admitted in the current version of Grassmann integral). If there are no objections to the merger, I will rewrite the subsection Grassmann_integral#Gaussian_integrals_over_Grassmann_variables to the conventions used in Berezin integral. Everything else in Grassmann integral is already covered here.

Good idea! PhysicsAboveAll (talk) 10:28, 7 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
checkY Merger complete. No objections after four months I just merged the pages. EduardoW (talk) 10:26, 6 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

QED category

[edit]

I propose to keep Category:Quantum_electrodynamics , since Berezin / Grassmann integrals naturally appear in a path integral quantisation of QED. See for example Peskin, Schröder, p. 300, chapter 9.5 "Functional Quantization of Spinor Fields", eq. (9.63).EduardoW (talk) 11:07, 23 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose: But the thing is that this is true for all quantizations of fermions in QFT, not just QED. It’s utility in QED comes about because of the utility in QFT; pretty much everything in the QFT category has some application in QED for similar reasons; but it does have (nor deserves) this categorization. I would agree with adding this category if this page had something to add to QED that it does not also add to QFT; but it doesn’t. By your logic, Berezin integrals should also have categories for QCD, lattice field theory, conformal field theory, electroweak theory, etc. Pretty much all the QFT categories where fermions pop up. Alright, I see your point - I did get a bit confused by your original edit summary. Feel free to remove the QED category. EduardoW (talk) 08:56, 15 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
