To say that Benoni d'Entremont was born in Pubnico is misleading. Current-day Pubnico consists of East Pubnico, West Pubnico, and Pubnico Head, and Benoni was born in neither of these places. He was born in what was then called "La Baronnie de Poumbcoup," which stretched from modern-day Yarmouth to almost Shelburne. Benoni, specifically, was born in what would now be called Barrington, in Shelburne County. When he returned from Exile (Expulsion of the Acadians) his homeland had been settled by New England Settlers, and he moved on to what became West Pubnico. But he was not born there.
