This article is in fine shape. I have a few comments/suggestions:

  • suggest "Benjamin Lewis Hodge (c. 1824 – August 12, 1864) was a Confederate politician who also commanded a regiment during the early stages of the American Civil War."
  • Done
  • link lieutenant
  • Done
  • rank and full name for Charles Didier Dreux and link:
  • Done
  • for commission link officer (armed forces)
  • Done
  • for judge advocate general link Judge advocate
  • Done
  • Confederate senate→ Confederate Senate
  • Done
  • link 19th Louisiana Infantry Regiment at first mention in the body
  • Done
  • Brigadier General Randall L. Gibson's brigade
  • Done
  • rank for Braxton Bragg
  • Done
  • rank for Patton Anderson
  • Done
  • rank and James Ronald Chalmers in full
  • Done
  • rank and William Babcock Hazen in full
  • Done
  • link 1863 Louisiana gubernatorial election (Confederate), although it says Allen won unopposed...
  • Done. The essay collection Confederate Governors states that Allen was elected overwhelmingly, so perhaps there isn't a contradiction. (Edit- I looked at contemporary newspapers and though Allen was opposed, he was opposed by other politicians. Hodge ran only in the congressional election, as usual.)
  • suggest "on February 19, 1864, he was appointed presiding judge of the military court of the Trans-Mississippi Department, a position that carried the rank of colonel with it."
  • Done
  • Done
  • the licensing of File:Benjamin Lewis Hodge.jpg is very dodgy. The sketch doesn't look like it was done by the uploader, it looks contemporary to Hodge's life. You need to find a source which dates it, identify the author etc then add appropriate license(s), or create a NFUR for it.
  • It looks like an aged version of the sketch of Hodge in Warner's Biographical Register of the Confederate Congress (the source I used), so it is most definitely copyvio as even if the uploader did hand sketch it, there isn't originality. Have reuploaded as fair use.
  • File:Shiloh Battle Apr6am-2.png needs a source for the troop positions/movements (like the book and page that was used to draw it)
  • So I know we've had this discussion about Hal Jespersen's maps before, but recently I've been reading some Civil War maps and note that Jespersen created new maps that were used in William Glenn Robertson's River of Death: The Chickamauga Campaign, published in 2018 by University of North Carolina Press. In Slaughter at the Chapel: The Battle of Ezra Church, 1864 by Gary Ecelbarger (University of Oklahoma Press, 2018), Jespersen is described as a "professional cartographer" and also created the maps for other works. I've also found other books by RS authors that use him as the mapmaker. I think these are pretty impeccable credentials that go above the normal standard in WP.
  • File:Map of Hodge Residence Location in Shreveport Louisiana.jpg seems tangential to the subject of the article, especially as the plaque is already shown in a separate pic, I'd lose it.
  • Done
  • the date of taking his seat in the Confederate House of Representatives given in the infobox isn't in the body
  • Done
  • the infobox says he died near Shreveport, but the body says Richmond.
  • Reconciled contradiction, going with one source over the other (Salling and Warner both mention Shreveport and that was where he was buried, Allardice is alone in stating Richmond).

That's it. Placing on hold for the above to be addressed. Nice work so far. Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 02:48, 8 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
