Fourth Wall
[edit]Should we state the fact that Bender says the name of the episode ("Bender should not be allowed on television!") and is only one of the only times in which the episode name is mentioned in the episode itself (e.g. "Roswell That Ends Well", "Mars University", "Mother's Day (Futurama)) Go Futurama! Sp3000 08:33, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
- I wouldn't consider it all that significant but others may have a different opinion. Stardust8212 14:50, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
- I don't think it's breaking fourth wall, but it might be a more or less interesting fact. --CCFreak2K 01:13, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
Last episode
[edit]FOX wanted this episode to be the last of 4th (and last by now until it returns) season instead of The Devil's Hands are Idle Playthings. They did not succeed, but it appeared on TV as the 17th of the season and 71th of the whole show instead of the 6th and 60th (as it had been decided by Futurama Producers, including Matt Groening). Whoever, on 4th Season DVDs it appears as 6th again.
Why?? Very obvious :( They had their opinion (which I do not share) and wanted to make it clear to end with the show :(
Anyway, should this be included? DIRed14.2 15:58, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
Henry Rollins
[edit]Am I the only one that thinks Henry played/voiced the network exective, it sounds like him, I checked his wiki page and it didn't mention that he did. Can anyone confirm this (I am only guessing based on voice) or can someone tell me who really played that part? Also, this seems like an episode he would like to be in, I mean it's about self-censorship or w/e.
- OK I swear I didn't know this, it was a complete guess based on voice. A quick check on iMDB <http://imdb.com/name/nm0738433/> resulted in this.
"Futurama" (1 episode, 2003) - Bender Should Not Be Allowed on TV (2003) TV Episode (writer: "TV Party")
- I thought it was his voice as well, and then Black Flag's "TV Party" started playing shortly after. It's probably him though he seems to be uncredited. BrainRotMenacer (talk) 18:40, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
Reference
[edit]I guess it would be technically original research, but I think it should be noted that this episode is a giant self-referencing metaphor for the show Futurama itself and its plight before the Fox executives of being pulled off the air —Preceding unsigned comment added by 138.89.124.140 (talk) 17:32, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
jay-z
[edit]Why is someone changing these edits? The tv guide cover clearly refers to the fued between Nas and Jay-Z, not jay leno. 68.171.231.19 (talk) 05:39, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
- How is this "clear"? The cover shows Jay Leno's head in Bender's chest. Where's the reference to Jay-Z? Do you have a source for this notion? Doniago (talk) 12:43, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
- I agree with Doniago, there is no reason to believe this is a Jay-Z reference whereas the picture in question has Jay Leno in the jar which is labeled with his name, though in this low quality image it is hard to see. There is also no indication that this is referring to Nas in any way. Without a reliable source nothing can be assumed beyond what is directly shown on screen. Stardust8212 14:57, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
- it is clearly east coast rapper Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter is bender's chest, not jay leno. I have no clue what angle you need to look at it to think that looks like jay leno. 68.171.234.108 (talk) 19:10, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
- Please wait for consensus from other editors before changing this. Currently consensus appears to be that it is Jay Leno, not Jay-Z. If you can find a reliable source to back up your assertion, I will be happy to change my opinion. Doniago (talk) 19:29, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
- failed try to be smart... it's a reference to the Jay Leno and Bill Hicks dispute —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.207.5.248 (talk) 04:53, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
