Notability

[edit]
  • Sterling has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published, and are independent of the musician or ensemble itself. Mixmag and DJMag are decades-old, established reliable music magazines. Earmilk and Electronic Groove are also reliable online music publications with editorial teams.
  • He has been described as "a leader of the UK’s new school" by Mixmag. ("Has become one of the most prominent representatives of a notable style or the most prominent of the local scene of a city"
  • He has performed at numerous large, well-known music festivals, including Coachella, which is "one of the largest, most famous, and most profitable music festivals in the United States and the world."
  • He has released EPs on independent labels with a history of more than a few years and with a roster of performers, many of whom are independently notable.
  • He has been nominated for a DJ Award, which are arguably the most notable awards in electronic music.
  • He has been featured on several broadcast segments across a national radio (BBC's Radio One, for example). I'm likely misinterpreting this guideline.*

I personally believe that electronic musicians are undercovered on Wikipedia. For example, I only recently created the article for the recently-deceased Nathan Coles, who was described as a "towering figure of the tech house scene" and "major tech house figure" by Rolling Stone and whose influence in electronic music was noted in DJMag, Mixmag, and NME. Many other well-known and influential electronic musicians only have stubs or very short and outdated articles. Mooonswimmer 02:05, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Considering all of this, I think it's safe to say Sterling is notable per our guidelines. What do you think? Mooonswimmer 02:05, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
