Notable Alumni

I'm sorry for being blunt, but I doubt PFC Jesse Halling's notability. He was killed in Iraq - that alone does not look like a good claim of notability (after all, there are by now about 2,500 U.S. combat deaths in Iraq). Wikipedia is not a Memorial. Unless some explanation of Halling's notability is given, I will remove him once more. --Huon 16:15, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

The person who had edited the article prior could have been alumni of the high school. In some high schools, people who die during high school due to war are known as heroes. --Bearly541 20:37, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
But something notable to the local residents is not automatically notable on Wikipedia, otherwise the criteria for inclusion would be much more lax.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.181.63.245 (talkcontribs)
My own high school also had memorials to remember its WWI and WWII dead (although, as far as I can tell, they, like Halling, didn't die during high school, but as alumni). Nevertheless, they certainly would not constitute "notable alumni" (especially as there were several dozens of them). Even the term "heroes" seems unsuitable, since getting killed is not all that heroic in itself (compared to, say, getting killed while saving one's comrades). Thus I removed him, until some reference towards his notability can be given. --Huon 08:56, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Thought I'd let people know...

I don't know how many people are interested in such a thing, or how many would think to look here if they were, but I've made a userbox for people who are graduates of Ben Davis.

If anyone is interested, then typing {{User:ONUnicorn/Userbox}} on your userpage will give you the userbox shown at User:ONUnicorn/Userbox. ~ ONUnicorn (Talk / Contribs) 18:42, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

Transclusion of userbox in above comment changed to link to avoid incorrect categorization of this page. DexDor (talk) 21:06, 4 September 2016 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Purpleshield2.jpg

Image:Purpleshield2.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Photo

The photo used is not Ben Davis High School. It is Ben Davis University High School. They are two seperate schools. The picture should be taken down. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.228.11.27 (talk) 23:40, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

References needed

I changed the information about the school being 4 years to 3 years, as it was inaccurate. The Ninth Grade Center is considered a separate school by the district, and I mentioned that to diminish confusion. I also fixed the enrollment numbers, which were way off, and added a reference to the school's official website. I also deleted the reference to the "Giant Theatre Festival" that "will be held" in 2010, as it was outdated and I could find no reference anywhere online about the festival. If someone wants to add it back with a reference, or put it back with a challenge, that's fine. The article needs a lot more references in general. Whateverlolawants (talk) 05:28, 27 February 2012 (UTC) Can someone find out why the school says its from Chicago, IL. It shows up on facebook that way. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 138.163.0.41 (talk) 16:27, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
