  • ... that one of Liverpool's best restaurants serves a rice pudding flavoured with a substance banned in the United States for its lethality? Source: The Guardian: "my strongest memory of Liverpool on this visit [...] was a plate (not a bowl, nor a ramekin) of lukewarm, decidedly unbeautiful rice pudding topped with pear steeped in Lillet vermouth. The rice was flavoured with tonka bean [...] Sure, it has been banned in the US since 1954 because large quantities of it can kill you"

  • As written, this article would deserve {{no lead}}, and "serves" violates WP:NOTPRICE. (There's an argument that "best restaurants" could date as well, but I'm less bothered by it.) On the second count, I recommend something like the following:
ALT1: ... that in a 2018 review for one of Liverpool's best restaurants, critic Grace Dent wrote of being served a rice pudding flavoured with a substance banned in the United States for its lethality?--Launchballer 10:20, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Launchballer Thanks for the feedback! All fair. Have added a proper lead, and I think that's forced some improvements in the article's overall structure too. I hear you on WP:NOTPRICE, so to keep the hook really tight how about:
ALT2: ... that critic Grace Dent wrote of a Liverpool restaurant serving her a rice pudding flavoured with a substance banned in the United States for its lethality?

Fine by me. Full review needed.--Launchballer 19:36, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
