Merger proposal

[edit]

There is a clear duplicate page: Belle II Detector. Should be merged here. Scnlf (talk) 12:28, 28 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I realise I should have mentioned the duplicate page's editors to engage them in discussion: Saurabhsandilya (talk · contribs) Jllm06 (talk · contribs) Katrinamoris2014 (talk · contribs) Headbomb (talk · contribs)

Performed the merge Scnlf (talk) 12:57, 27 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Undid merging, Belle II detector is page is created with an aim to have a detail about detector (aimed at general audience).

Re-performed merge. The "detector" page has had unreferenced and technical issues tagged since Aug 2015, so it cannot be aimed at general audience. Scnlf (talk) 14:12, 1 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction of unused abbreviations

[edit]

Like in most high-energy-physics experiment, there are many abbreviations used for components of the Belle II detector. However, in a general encyclopedic article, I would try to avoid them as much as possible. Especially I wouldn't introduce via parentheses if they don't appear anywhere else in the article, e.g. (DEPFET). In that case, I would only choose to remain that abbreviation for searchability reasons, i.e. if you want people to find the Belle II article when they search for "DEPFET", but in that case they should better find the field-effect transistor article. For that reason I already removed the (RPC) abbreviation and instead linked the resistive plate chamber article.
