Reducing math complexity
[edit]"In one instance, a multiplication was avoided by looking up two numbers from the table and subtracting them, as it was noticed the result was the same as a multiplication of two related numbers."
This I doubt. It was most likely *adding* them, i.e. instead of multiplying two numbers, the logarithm of both were added. This would break down multiplication to log() lookup, addition and exp() lookup. Same goes for division and log subtraction. The same approach was later used in the Yamaha FM machines that operated on log(sin) rather than sin() as otherwise the sheer amount of multiplications required would've rendered the machines impossible to do.
If it is not this approach, whoever wrote the above sentence please give a clearer picture of what was done.
