GA Review

[edit]

I'll be reviewing the article in the next few days, any additional comments from other users are welcome. - Nick C (talk) 20:22, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GA review (see here for criteria)
  1. It is reasonably well written.
    a (prose): b (MoS):
    • "In summer Olympic games, Belarus gains one of the highest numbers of medals per capita in the world (usually the second), and definitely the highest in Europe." Any references to prove this?
    • Medal tables don't add up.  Done
    • The Beijing 2008 section needs to be updated.  Done
    • Could add more public and rival views of the Belarus Olympic teams, if possible.  Done
  2. It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (references): b (citations to reliable sources): c (OR):
    • The second lead paragraph seems like it's original research, e.g. "the Belarussian sportsmen have gained a distinct reputation for being successful in events which require brute or raw strength and power.." You could back these claims with references to the percentage of medals won in one event compared to others.
    • The 2004 Athens section could use some more references, e.g. for the medals won in each event. Done
    • Add references for the flag bearers, if possible.  Done
  3. It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects): b (focused):
    • The sections for each of the Olympic Games are much improved from the last GA review; if possible could you expand on these sections. Done
  4. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
    Fair representation without bias:
  5. It is stable.
    No edit wars etc.:
  6. It is illustrated by images, where possible and appropriate.
a (images are tagged and non-free images have fair use rationales): b (appropriate use with suitable captions):
  7. Overall:
    Pass/Fail:

A very nicely written and well referenced article. If the above improvements are made, GA status is a possibility. - Nick C (t·c) 16:06, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Working on it as much as I could. I did most of what you asked for on the list, but the only real public things I found about the team was either BY sources or I already covered them. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 02:40, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Nice work, you could add back the medals won by sport table, using this as a reference, but it doesn't include the data for the 2008 Olympics. - Nick C (t·c) 10:44, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Table back in and the math checks out. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 18:19, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Cool, if you could get any refs for the flag bearers that will be great (If not then don't worry about it). Also if you add more public views and expand a little more on the subsections. - Nick C (t·c) 18:59, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I added the Athens bearer, trying to find more. I could not get much about Atlanta, but will try and expand on others. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 21:42, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your effort in improving this article! - Nick C (t·c) 22:04, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry I have not been able to get at this, but I hope to at least expand the Olympic stuff. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 05:41, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, managed to make some edits and I hope they are to you liking. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 18:29, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have read over it, its seems all of the possible improvements have been made, good job on expanding the sections. Passed. - Nick C (t·c) 20:48, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yay, thank you! User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 04:01, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
