Done & needed Cleanup
[edit]I initially described the accompanying article in the CU tag with
- inaccessible to average reader. A map, schematic, or even a table would help enormously. Maybe i was misled by the version i found, which claimed to be a Dab, emphasizing the impression that there were six mutually exclusive ways of driving between the two cities. Oh, hell, it does indeed describe at least 2 different ways accessing the Belem end.
but that's too informal since the "reason" field is displayed on the article when using that tag!
I think its biggest fault was treating the list as a series of similarly constructed prose paragraphs that are too long for the parallelism to be useful to the reader, and i moved some of the prose to new or existing articles, or simply relied on existing links to existing content to cover for omitted former content. Some removed material could return, but making it useful on this page would require even more than my substantial effort.
It's also counterproductive to talk about a Belem to Brasilia highway, and describe it with Brasilia at the start and Belem only near the end. The reader arrives oriented by the title, and i re-org'd to stick to that orientation.
Just in the hope of clarification, i used one Google-map that appears to cover all the stretches described (but starts out violating the principle i suggested -- and followed in editing -- by tracing N from Estreito to Belem, and then more or less S), and of course has to fill in BBHwy gaps that AFAIC see are implicit in the content i found, viz.
- over 600 non-BBHwy km from Santa Maria do Pará to Porto Franco (obviously a river port), and
- bypassing Pará state, and violating my convention a route from Estreito to Brasilia using the three southern segments but preceding them by about 600 km more of non-BBHwy routes from Estreito to Porto Franco.
It would be good for the article to explain why Estreito is on a BBHwy (perhaps bcz directly from Santa Maria do Pará to Porto Franco was once exceptionally challenging terrain, and either the current existing route there still is not up to BBHwy standards or the political will to "depose" BR-010 from the position of national honor has not yet accumulated; similarly perhaps Estreito to Porto Franco has never been seen as a permanent leg and/or bringing it up to full BBHwy standards would be a waste in light of the plans to do so on the direct Santa Maria do Pará to Porto Franco stretch). At any rate, neither the BR-226 stretch E of Porto Franco nor the G-Maps-described BR-010 one N of it seems to yet be BBHwy-designated, and details on one or both of those situations would substantially improve the article.
