They're Completely Original Characters, not Disney characters.
[edit]The Japan Probe source repeatedly refers to the characters as original. The Chinese government also believes the characters to be original.
Here's some examples of the Japan Probe columnist's view. After studying the images, I do not believe he/she is using sarcasism:
"Did I say Disneyland? I meant Shijingshan Amusement Park, an amusement park in Beijing that has absolutely nothing to do with Disney." "Here we have an original Chinese duck character hanging out with one of the Beijing Olympics mascots." "Some have claimed that the park is illegally copying Disney’s Minnie Mouse. However, the park’s operators have insisted that the character on the right is not a mouse. It is a cat with very large ears!" Photographs of various mascots
I Noticed how the Donald Duck-like character has pants, and Hello Kitty-like character's bow is on the wrong side.
This article needs needs to be written in a more balanced way. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by MarioBegins (talk • contribs) 23:19, 4 May 2007 (UTC).

Are you so sure that they are original? I am not saying they are copied, but they do not need to look EXACTLY the same to be copied off of someone. In fact, who would copy a trademarked character exactly. Also, for the picture I see with Snow White, I have to say it does have similarities with the Disney version. This my personal opinion, I feel the Disney version of Snow White is unqiue. Just by typing in Snow White in Wikipedia, you see Snow White in has long black hair. In fact, many princesses are usually depicted with long hair. It is considered feminine. Disney's verison of Snow White has short hair. This can reflects the hairstye trend of the time when Snow White was released in the U.S. Hence why Disney deviated from the norm. Also, the color of her dress or the design of the dress(and do not give the details on the differences, I am looking at the dress in general) is similar. I might not have read Snow White, but I have not heard passages in the book specifying the dress color for Snow White. With that said, then it would have been Disney's own decision on the colors, the blue and yellow. If it was original, why pick the same color scheme as Disney? To me, it is hard to deny the fact that there are many similarities with the Disney. About the source Japan Probe, it seems like it was sarcasism. For how the article is, it does not seem like it was defending the "original" characters arguement. Icaazn614 20:11, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
FNN Article
[edit]I can't read Japanese, so I don't know which news agency/TV station originally filed the report. All the videos and screen captures online seems to point to Fuji FNN as the original reporter. Their article is no longer accessible (here). --Voidvector 23:43, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
Amusement Park Website
[edit]As of May 10, 2007, the amusement park's website is down. It was accessible before. --Voidvector 23:43, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
Japan Blog / Japan Probe
[edit]Whatever they are calling themselves now. This is not a reliable or neutral source, it is a Japanese blog whose content consists almost solely of issues relating to and supporting anti-Chinese sentiment. Though this park may have been documented elsewhere and is probably notable, Japan Blog/Probe should not be sourced or linked in any article. 99.58.73.134 (talk) 07:49, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
