"Dirty rap"

[edit]

@MagicatthemovieS: If you want the article to be in the category "dirty rap songs", please add it to the genres and cite a source that calls it one, I don't doubt that it is, but it needs to be said in the article if has the category. --AmaryllisGardener talk 16:45, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Beg for It (song)

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Beg for It (song)'s orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "mccert":

  • From The New Classic: "IGGY AZALEA "THE NEW CLASSIC"". Music Canada. 26 August 2014.
  • From Work (Iggy Azalea song): "IGGY AZALEA". Music Canada. 26 August 2014.

Reference named "us_sales":

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 01:06, 16 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

General
Info box
  • Legal names for the writers, but for producers their stage name is okay.
  • The picture shouldn't have the Parental Advisory sticker on it. So you will have to find another version of cover.
Lead
  • Which two members of Arcade Fire?
  • List years for both The New Classic and Reclassified, not just the latter.
  • An initial live → "initial" isn't needed
  • Though it was → However, it was
  • A pop rap, trap → A pop rap and trap
  • percolating, booming stark beat and solicits a sinuous, minimalist feel. → Are these your own words? They sound like they are being quoted, in which case they need quotation marks.
  • Is there an article that "pussy power" can be linked to?
  • I'd say top 30 hit as it peaked at 27.
  • US → U.S.
  • poor timing → I don't think this is the correct phrasing. Perhaps "Scheduling conflicts"?
  • Azalea and MØ's first live performance of "Beg for It", on Saturday Night Live was panned by many critics, → Their first live performance of the song on Saturday Night Live was panned by many critics
  • "one of the most cringe-worthy live moments in recent history". → Full stop inside the quote
  • absent from all Azalea's → absent from all of Azalea's
  • The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and at the 41st People's Choice Awards and 2014 American Music Awards. → The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the 41st People's Choice Awards and the 2014 American Music Awards.
  • Why is there no mention of the music video in this paragraph.
  • I'd mentioned that a lyric video was released instead of a music video.
Background
  • were responsible for its recording. → Not guilty of something, so I'd omit "responsible"
  • Azalea initially previewed → Again, "initially" doesn't serve any purpose
Composition
  • Beg for It" is a pop rap,[19] trap song.[20] → Beg for It" is a pop rap and trap music song.[19][20]
  • Again, are those descriptions lifted from the reviews? They sound like you're quoting them without using quotation marks.
  • So does this song contain an official interpolation of "Hypnotise"?
Critical reception
  • This section is a bit WP:QUOTEFARM. There needs to be some paraphrasing into your own words in this section.
Commercial performance
  • Section is slightly U.S. centric.
  • You could definitely write a lot more for Canada and its charting on three charts, Belgium, Australia and the UK.
Live performances
  • The block quote for the SNL subsection need not have quotation marks because it is already indented, indicating that it is a quote.
Music video
  • Again, no need for a one sentence paragraph. Just make it one paragraph.
Credits and personnel
  • All of these are already linked in the Background section, so this is WP:OVERLINK
Outcome

Quite a lot to do, on hold for 7 days. I have over 2,300 articles in my watch list so ping me when you need me.  — ₳aron 15:34, 14 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No response for 8 days. As per the guideline at Good Articles, I've given it over a week. I'm sorry but I'm failing as a result. Nominator has been inactive for some time prior to me starting review. I'm sure that if you nominate again, providing you have done what I suggest above, that it will be passed straight away.  — ₳aron 18:12, 23 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
