Name correction

[edit]

According to a majority of the linked sources, the name does seem to have two apostrophes around the O. Only the 2009 mention of the renaming of the Bowl uses a single apostrophe. More recently, Wikipedia's title is the top hit on search results, so may influence how others spell it. Compare Toys "R" Us -- we use both doublequotes, but don't include the stylized reverse R - in part because we can only approximate it in unicode (it's not actually using the cyrillic character). May be worth revisiting the above ^_^ – SJ + 01:00, 8 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 2

Beef O'Brady'sBeef 'O' Brady's

As above, I propose moving this to the official spelling. The current title, without a space before the B, is definitely wrong; if anything, treating the internal apostrophes as decorative would lead to Beef O Brady's. But the majority of independent sources use 'O', sometimes very explicitly; so we should too (MOS seems to agree, I left a comment there to clarify).

Wikipedia is one of the few outpost on the web that use the current title -- it makes it appear prominently in search results, and leads to inconsistencies here on WP. For instance, our article on the 2010_Beef_'O'_Brady's_Bowl uses the correct title (it was unambiguous), but mentions of it in the body text on Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl (which redirects to the current name, the Gasparilla Bowl) uses the WP spelling in the text, even though the citations all use the original spelling.

so... what is it, exactly?

[edit]

Many Wikipedia articles suffer from excessive detail, this one seems to have the opposite problem. The American definition of "Irish pub" can mean so many different things, there is not a single word about what sort of food is actually served. From their slogan it sounds like it is actually just a sports bar with shamrocks on it, a sort of Buffalo Wild Wings but with... I guess beef instead of chicken wings?. With so many locations I'd expect there is some coverage out there of what this place actually is. Just Step Sideways from this world ..... today 20:13, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
