A few departments from Bedford were on the Royal Holloway campus in the 1983-4 academic year, but most were there only from 1984-5 on. At least two departments (Philosophy and Geography) negotiated themselves out of the merger, and instead merged into Kings College, starting on the Kings campus in 1984-5. - Yes - on reflection what happened was that most of the people I knew (in various languages departments) made the move in that previous year. Meanwhile the Classical Archaeology Department (I think there were three of us students!) moved to UCL in the next year. Formally, the final merger was in 1985. --Ndaisley 09:00, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
