[edit]Is Becky owarai? I don't think so. --Hatto 13:59, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
- No, I don't think so either. Being created by Project Owarai doesn't necessarily mean that she has to be an owarai geinin. freshofftheufoΓΛĿЌ 11:10, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
- urusai, maybe. owarai, no. Kawaikunai 09:18, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
Proposed move
[edit]I propose to move this article to Becky (tarento), making Becky a redirect to Rebecca. It would stop most of the vandalism to the page and it makes more sense to have Becky as a pseudo disambig page in the first place. freshofftheufoΓΛĿЌ 03:04, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
Becky or Bekiko?
[edit]If she most often refers to herself as Bekiko (as the article states), shouldn't this article be moved to Bekiko? PC78 21:42, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
- It's kind of a joke (-ko is very common in Japanese names, so "Bekiko" sounds oddly Japanese), and I'm not sure but I think the only time she uses "Bekiko" is on her blog, referring to herself in the third person (which is a kind of cutesy/girly thing to do in Japanese). Regardless, she doesn't seriously think her name is "Bekiko", and she would never deny that her name is ベッキー Becky. I guess you could call "Bekiko" a personal nickname? freshofftheufoΓΛĿЌ 04:55, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
What's a talento?
[edit]What does the word "talento" mean? --MK (talk) 14:21, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
Requested move

The result of the move request was: Moved to Becky (television personality). Ucucha 18:17, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
Becky (talento) → Becky (tarento) — The descriptor is rendered as tarento in the article of that name, and the title of this article should reflect that. StAnselm (talk) 07:05, 20 May 2010 (UTC)

Discussion
[edit]- Any additional comments:
- While I agree that the current "talento" disambiguator needs changing, I would suggest that something like Becky (television personality) using a recognizable English term would be better. --DAJF (talk) 11:38, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
- I agree with this. Or maybe just Becky (Japanese celebrity).—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 22:55, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
- I think we should avoid "celebrity" in article names, but as the proposer of the move, I think Becky (television personality) is much better than my initial suggestion. StAnselm (talk) 23:27, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
- There could always be her full name, but it apparently isn't verified to reliable sources as I had thought in the past.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 23:36, 20 May 2010 (UTC)

Full name
[edit]I believe I've found a reliable source for her full name: [1]. There's also another copy located here.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 20:23, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
- Hmm, I don't know how reliable. I note that Becky's age in the article is different to the one here - the article was written in November 2008, and says she is 26. StAnselm (talk) 20:53, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
- Who else could it possibly be?—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 21:27, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
- I mean, if they didn't get her age right, we can't rely on them for her real name. StAnselm (talk) 21:31, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
- Because there was an old publication that also used this name that I brought up the last time I discovered her full name. Everything but the age matches up in this one publication. It's the only Becky/Rebecca from Japan related to Japan (ignoring the French Beckii Cruel or whatever her name is).—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 21:47, 29 May 2010 (UTC)

I'm sure her last name is Ray Vaughan. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 119.172.121.99 (talk) 01:03, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
- silly chinks, her name is Rebecca Eri RayVaughan — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.104.154.107 (talk) 22:32, 6 April 2013 (UTC)
- No. It isn't. It's "Rebecca Eri Rabone", and her sister's Twitter more or less proves that (even though we can't use it as a source). "RayVaughan" is just some nonsense people have been spreading for ages because no one bothered to find out that Becky released photgraphy books with her full name when she first came out in Japan. And I'm a white dude from New York, not a "chink" which is a personal attack.—Ryulong (琉竜) 00:57, 7 April 2013 (UTC)
The June 15, 2015 episode of the US So You Think You Can Dance includes a dance audition by her sister, Jessica. Her package (the pre-performance intro video) has an extensive bio where she talks about her sister and the challenges she faced being in her soster's shadow in Japan. In her audition, she is clearly identified as "Jessica Rabone." Traveliter (talk) 09:16, 20 June 2015 (UTC)
Her name is Rebecca Eri Ray Vaughan, age 31. Here's a good source: http://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2016/01/23/national/media-national/smap-dodges-bullet-becky-isnt-lucky/
Well, one imagines that the surname 'Ray Vaughan' would have to be her (British) father's, given her mother is apparently Japanese; with this in mind, there is not one single birth record for any individual born with the surname 'Ray Vaughan' in the U.K., so either: he wasn't born in the U.K., despite being 'British'; he changed his name (in honour of Stevie Ray Vaughan, presumably? Unlikely, but whatever); the surname is actually 'Rabone', that being both an actual surname and one for which numerous U.K. records exist, and the Japan Times or whatever either misconstrued the word or chose to represent it as 'Ray Vaughan' for either a more interesting appearance or to seem to refer to Stevie Ray Vaughan- for whatever reason. In addition to the fact that her sister is consistently referred to as 'Jessica Rabone', as several people above have mentioned, Occam's razor would indicate her name's Rabone, not Ray Vaughan. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.30.7.51 (talk) 15:31, 7 February 2017 (UTC)
Several sources give Becky's father's name as Simon Rabone/ Ray Vaughan; she was born and raised in Kanagawa Prefecture, and this http://aviation-business-gazette.com/A13/B72/Pilot-Simon-Charles-Rabone-Kawasaki-Kanagawa-.html records a Simon Charles Rabone, of Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture. There are several other sources for the same named individual of the same place, including: http://www.genealogy.com/ftm/e/l/l/Ronald-Elliott-PA/WEBSITE-0001/UHP-0143.html - this indicates a Simon Charles Rabone to be father of two daughters, Rebecca and Jessica, which seems to confirm matters. Sources seem to differ regarding Becky's mother's name, though. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.30.7.51 (talk) 16:16, 7 February 2017 (UTC)
