Transliterate non-Roman scripts, please!

This is English Wikipedia, not "world languages" Wikipedia. It is intended for speakers and readers of English. Consequently, it makes absolutely no sense to have passages like "Armenian: բազար, Georgian: ბაზარი, Polish: bazar, Russian: базар, Ukrainian: базар and Uzbek: bozor, Uyghur: بازار‎, ULY: bazar, USY: базар" in the article. If the average English-speaker can't decipher a bit of text, it serves no purpose here, except to demonstrate the erudition of some editor. This is not English-language chauvinism but a plea for practicality. It might be nice if all English speakers were taught to read Arabic and Georgian scripts, but it's not the case, and, without transliterations, those scripts convey no meaning at all to most readers of this Wikipedia. It is useful to have foreign words related to the Persian original represented here, but only if an English-speaking reader can see the connection. Foreign scripts should accordingly be Romanized (if there is a conventional Romanization for English speakers) or transcribed into IPA. J. D. Crutchfield | Talk 15:39, 16 November 2017 (UTC)

I couldn't agree more. Yet, more and more foreign terminologies are continually being added to the article. I suspect that it is more complex than just showing off the erudition of editors. Instead, I suspect that there is quite a lot of political point-scoring going on here. If, for example, the Persian word is given, then the Armenians and the Kurds, have to get their word in there as well. If the Russian word is there, then the Ukrainian also needs to get a look in.
