Talk:Bayesian Kepler periodogram
Appearance
This article was nominated for deletion on 18 December 2008 (UTC). The result of the discussion was merge to Doppler spectroscopy. |
Nature of factual dispute
[edit]The references are valid, but the periodiogram is the output of a computational algorithm applied against precision radial velocity measurements, not an astronomical instrument itself. The algorithm information can be properly merged to Doppler spectroscopy as a new section related to post-hoc analysis of radial velocity data or integrated more seamlessly with existing content. --User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 01:33, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
- This seems to be a load of nonsense. Someone seems to have interpreted Monte-Carlo techniques as referring to a specific observatory, analysis as an instrument. Icalanise (talk) 19:11, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
- I declined the speedy-deletion since this is a real term. Based on the lack of discussion here, it looks like no one would complain if you wished to simply merge this to the other article and turn this one into a redirect though. --Elonka 20:38, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
- I am unconvinced the proposed merger is a good one. The target article is more focussed on obtaining the radial velocity measurements, this is one specific analysis technique which is not commonly used. Icalanise (talk) 20:56, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
- You may wish to try a Proposed deletion then. It'll put a template on the page, and if no one disagrees after 5 days, the page will simply disappear, with no muss, and no fuss. Have you filed one before? If not, let me know and I'll place it for you. --Elonka 21:00, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
- I've dropped a note at WT:ASTRO to try and get some more opinions on the merger before I put this up for deletion again. Thanks for the advice though. Icalanise (talk) 21:03, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
- Sounds like a good plan. If I can be of further assistance, please don't hesitate to ask. :) --Elonka 21:31, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
