Alumnus vs drop-out
[edit]On the page for Bill Balas it says he dropped out of high school. If that's true, he should not be listed as an alumnus of Bay High School. Maybe just the section title should be changed. I don't actually know anything about this specific individual; just noting the language usage issue. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.100.77.112 (talk) 13:29, 25 December 2013 (UTC)
- Please tell that to Indiana University. I didn't graduate from there, but they still consider me an alum. I am not totally sure of what the translation from Latin is, but the general consensus here is that to be an alum, all you have to do is have attended the school. Graduation is not a requirement. The drop out statement in this particular instance should probably be removed from the article mentioned unless it is referenced, because it could be a WP:BLP violation. - The wikipedia page on alumni states that any former student can be called such, so his mention should remain.FirstDrop87 (talk) 02:26, 26 December 2013 (UTC)
- I really don't know what the OP is talking about. Since there is no mention of the school in his article, I am going to remove him. However, the definition of Alumni is certainly accurate. John from Idegon (talk) 06:10, 26 December 2013 (UTC)

Edits based on local proximity and knowledge
[edit]I have added additional information about Bay High School and will continue to do so. I have removed the paragraph referencing a news controversy that is based on initial, incomplete and inaccurate news accounts. The event happened over summer vacation when students were not at school, and the only tie to Bay High is that some were students there. - Thank you. I reverted your edits last night because information based on personal knowledge are not allowed (see WP:OR). However I agree completely that thid does not belong, due both to the time and the fact that the coverage was apparently only local. Stories of this type that are only covered locally are really not to be included in school articles. I am currently editing from my phone which only allows me to do a few things. I was planning on removing it myself later today. Thanks again. Feel free to write me on my talk page if I can be of any assistence to you. John from Idegon (talk) 17:30, 16 December 2014 (UTC)
