Name?
[edit]Ok this name is "fishy". I checked all my books and couldn't find this name anywhere during Ceasar's campaign, the Gallic Wars. There is a small battle near the Saône River (the 1st major battle of the Gallic War) but I couldn't the proper name of that battle anywhere. According to common logic, that battle should be called something like "Battle of the Saône" but sometimes battles are NOT named after the nearest geographical feature. Searched also in the internet, but I couldn't find anything about Arar, besides some Arabian kid. Flamarande 03:05, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
- I found it! Inside "In the name of Rome" by Adrian Goldsworthy: "...to cross the River Arar (modern Saône)".
It is also mentioned in the page on the Gallic Wars in Wikipedia itself, so the battle is named correctly.
Battle or Massacre?
[edit]According to this link:
This was the Helvetii Massacre, not a battle. Do we have any more sources to clarify this? Jcchat66 (talk) 00:07, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
Another source, which is even worse for Caesar.
