The image is labeled as "The Battle of Honnoji," but that's just the artist's way of following in the woodblock artist tradition of depicting current events, but giving them names of events in the distant past (The Battle of Honnoji occurred in 1582 and resulted in the death of Nobunaga). The battle here depicted might better be described as the Battle of Kan'eiji, after the temple where it occurred in Ueno. -Tadakuni 00:51, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
