I started this today and realize it needs work. I'd like to see a military infobox similar to those I have seen for similar items, but I don't trust myself to invent one. All help is appreciated. Jeffmatt 17:32, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

war box

[edit]

I have modified the war box from the Battle of Monte Cassino to fit this battle, but it is still incomplete in terms of casualties and combattants. (The Allied units are not necessarily the same as at Cassino). Working on it. Jeffmatt 07:08, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion

[edit]

Great work on this article! I have just a small suggestion: Move the Campaignbox Italy template down below the warbox. It seems to be somewhat a convention; almost every battlepage I've seen has it in this way. Examples: Battle of Normandy (which I used as a reference when I modified Allied invasion of Italy). Participants

[edit]

At the battle of San Pietro itself only U.S. forces took part on the Allied side (II Corps). To their right was U.S. VI Corps and latterly the Free French Expeditionary Corps and on their left British X Corps. To my knowledge their were no Polish, New Zealand, Canadian or Indian formations at San Pietro. I am therefore proposing to take all the nations except the U.S. and their flags out of the info box if no-one objects. The wider battle on the Bernhardt Line (of which the San Pietro action forms a part) is covered in the Winter Line entry and I have inserted the appropriate battle box there (but left the San Pietro inage which is still appropriate although it would be better to find a different one to avois duplication). I have included US, British and Free French (took part on the 5th Army front) and Canadian, Indian and New Zealand (took part with British on 8th Army front). Once again, no Polish who arrived for the next Battle at monte Cassino Stephen Kirrage talk - contribs 12:36, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
