Who really violated the ceasefire?

I heard, from front-line personnel and several books written on the first Gulf War that the Hammurabi Division had fired on the US forces as they were retreating, and that's after they agreed to a ceasefire. A couple of Iraqi divisions did this. The US responded by boxing them in and blowing them all up. Not a Battle

Owing to descriptions of the event and the nature of the action, especially its asymmetry (the Iraqis could barely be said to have an order of battle for instance). Here http://milmag.com/2011/02/battle-at-rumaila/ confrims my suspicion. This outlines what happened (from a granted entirely biased perspective), in the diagram of the order of battle. NO Iraqi combat units can be identified, and such lines as 'There was no way out — the Iraqis were trapped' really sum up the partially organised rout that the U.S. forces sought to engage. They were retreating, and came across enemy at their front, with enemy at their back, how else do you expect a soldier to react? The ceasefire was unilaterla, that is, the US stopped shooting. It was not a "peace agreement" or some kind of armistice. The americans could have bypassed them after receiving ineffective fire, instead, they massacred them. This article isn’t completely accurate

well before the 24th Aviation and 4-64 AR made contact, 2-7 Infantry (Mech) was directed at 0500 2 March 91 to maneuver forward and makes contact with a large enemy force moving in the Rumalia area. Charlie Company/2-7 made first contact, not the battalions Scout platoon as sometimes reported. As Charlie 2-7 was at the edge of the Ramallah oilfield C/2-7 third platoon was immediately pinned down by a dug in motorized rifle platoon (MRP)my 3rd platoon then conducted a frontal assault and destroyed the platoon and immediately the my company was attacked by 10 T72 tanks and 25 BMPs which began to maneuver along the railroad and open ground to the battalions right flank. C/2-7 counterattacked and destroyed the 10 tanks and 25 BMPs and then continued its attack seizing the intersection of the railroad and main road leading into the into the Rumalia oil and over the Euphrates and passed 4-64 Armor forward in order for them to continue the attack.
