More than one action
[edit]More than one American Civil War engagement took place at Mount Sterling. The first draft of this article conflates these relatively minor engagements - as the sole reference or link shows. Among other things, the different engagements, which took place on different dates, need to be separated into different sections and the facts distinguished for each one. - Exactly right, but I haven't had time or attention to do the cleanup (other fires needing to be put out first). The sole source is the quoted historical marker, actually two separate markers which are quoted verbatim. That's why I put the copyvio tag when I curated it. It is possible we could do both events on the same page but if we can find better sourcing two different pages. BusterD (talk) 03:02, 15 May 2015 (UTC)
- An interesting read about the two battles is from a certain Ken Darnell and can be found here [1]. Sadly I cannot verify this source although this source [2] also contains a detailed description of the events at Mount Sterling. It also helps if we can figure out the exact names of the generals and colonels to allow for linking to their respective pages. Roemba (talk) 11:21, 26 June 2015 (UTC)
Coordinates
[edit]The coordinates are the location of the historical marker. The battle took place at various locations within and around the town. GeorgeofOrange (talk) 02:57, 3 March 2020 (UTC)
