"Attacked" implies a conventional force

[edit]

When saying they attacked Kampala, at least in the context of the article, it makes me think of an attack with guns and mortars, we should probably note it was a suicide bomb attack rather than anything conventional. 72.222.247.148 (talk) 16:59, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Couldn't you have just reworded the stuff for the 25th? It's kind of a loss of info this way. SilverserenC 14:30, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Can you please help by doing that? I'm not at all familiar with the topic of the article. Nick-D (talk) 03:56, 5 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dispute in facts-- numbers of deaths

[edit]

So the number of people killed in this battle was just changed from 140 to '70+' based on a source change from: http://afriqueactu.net/6034/afrique/somalie/violences-en-somalie-plus-de-140-morts to http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2010/sep/03/6-somali-civilians-killed-in-violence-in-mogadishu/ Which of these is the notable and correct source, do we think? Is this reduction in numbers POV? Should it just be considered more accurate? Was the change valid? Thurinym (talk) 16:14, 5 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There are so many sources out there saying conflicting total number of number of deaths it is hard to tell what is confirmed and what is not. By changing the reference I just found one that was more up to date is all and the reference does state that the number is confirmed by the head of Mogadishu's voluntary ambulance service. Also the source looks to be from The Associated Press. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 16:18, 5 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Where did the Foreign Mujahedeen come from?

[edit]

The Battle of Mogadishu (2010) began on August 23, 2010 when al-Shabaab insurgents began attacking government and African Union Mission to Somalia

I do not see any mention or reference for Mogadishu in the article about The Foreign Mujahedeen being involved in this battle. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 20:38, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

In a press release from AMISOM on February 20th 2011, they claim to have killed several foreign Al-Shabaab fighters from Yemen, Pakistan, Kenya, Syria and India: http://www.garoweonline.com/artman2/publish/Press_Releases_32/AMISOM_Smashes_Extremist_s_Urban_Trench_System.shtml Hamza-nor (talk) 13:27, 20 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

More troops?

[edit]

First of July 2011 it was reported that 3,000 additional troops had arrived in Mogadishu.http://somaliareport.com/index.php/post/1071/3000_African_Union_Troops_Arrive_in_Mogadishu_ and http://shabelle.net/article.php?id=8216

And before it was around 9,000 AMISOM troops, but still it is 9,000 troops in Mogadishu and they are waiting for the next 3,000. Did I miss something? Hamza-nor (talk) 12:11, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

WHAT?

[edit]

It didn't even end yet.[1][2] Also lots and LOTS other false information (including the claim of the ICU is an umbrella group of the insurgents today!) and original research (like the editors' appearant own attempts to compute the number of casualties, for example). The article as it stands now is just (possibly accidental) disinformation and it's really badly written too. --194.145.185.229 (talk) 12:04, 22 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think it is very difficult to get exact numbers on causalities and killed. The numbers are usually different from each source. Maybe you would help to rewrite the article so it is easier to read and understand? Hamza-nor (talk) 12:27, 22 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
