File:Kennesaw bombardment2.jpg to appear as POTD soon
[edit]Hello! This is a note to let the editors of this article know that File:Kennesaw bombardment2.jpg will be appearing as picture of the day on June 27, 2011. You can view and edit the POTD blurb at Template:POTD/2011-06-27. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. :) Thanks! howcheng {chat} 18:29, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
Union and Confederate Strengths
[edit]Are the force sizes given in the infobox correct? Livermore, Thomas Leonard (1900). Numbers and Losses in the Civil War in America, 1861-1865. Houghton, Mifflin and company. p. 120–121. cites 16,225 Union troops engaged, and 17,733 Confederate troops engaged. Bodart, Gaston (1908). Militär-historisches kreigs-lexikon, (1618-1905). Stern. p. 537. gives 18,000 Union and 6,000 Confederate. Both of these figures are well outside of what I would consider reasonable measurement error of the 95,000+ / 50,000 strengths currently in the infobox. Jrnold (talk) 18:36, 23 September 2011 (UTC)
- Good catch. The previous figures were actually of the total armies (which are listed in the units involved box), not the specific units engaged. Hal Jespersen (talk) 20:44, 23 September 2011 (UTC)
- Excellent. Thanks for taking care of that Jrnold (talk) 16:58, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
