Bad citation
[edit]I read the linked article, the 4th citation supporting this article. It is a very general media overview and offers no attribution or source for this article's statement that "The Native Americans (men, women and children) were camped on the top of a hill, with the soldiers located across a narrow ravine about 1,500 feet deep. Two hundred of the Native Americans were in the mountains southwest of present-day Roseburg armed with muzzleloaders, bows, and arrows and managed to hold off a group of "more than 300 ... dragoons, militiamen and volunteers"."
Some of this detail comports with other writings on the topic but some does not. It's almost as if this citation were added to this encylopedia entry for purposes of promoting the website that published it. 72.193.242.86 (talk) 18:38, 9 January 2024 (UTC)
- It appears the promotional reference is quoting the earlier press release from Southern Oregon University. I will temporarily replace it with the SOU link. 72.193.242.86 (talk) 19:19, 9 January 2024 (UTC)
