Article name
[edit]This article was moved without agreement, and if someone wants to rename it, it should raise request for it. --Ąnαșταη (ταlκ) 09:50, 6 September 2020 (UTC)
- Check the movelog. You have to request the move. Crazydude1912 (talk) 10:39, 6 September 2020 (UTC)
Everyone here needs to stop move warring. Reach a consensus on the name first, then move the page accordingly if needed. If you can't reach a consensus among yourselves, bring in outside input via requested move or similar. I've temporarily move-protected this page to stop this nonsense, but if it continues, you should expect blocks to be issued in short order. This is not how we handle naming disputes on this project. - I agree with Anastan. No one has explained why the contemporary toponym should be replaced with a phonetic one. Amanuensis Balkanicus (talk) 20:15, 6 September 2020 (UTC)
- @Crazydude1912: maybe can start a move discussion for this to be avoided next time, because it is unnecessary. Despite the fact that some editors think that Glođane is a common term, in post-2000 bibliography the reality is very different:
- Gllogjan + Kosovo 37
- Glođane + Kosovo 7 (including two duplicated results from a Serbian journal)
- Glodjane + Kosovo 25
- Except for one source, the bibliography of the article doesn't use Glođane, but Glodjane: 1)BBC: Serb forces have captured Glodjane, a major ethnic Albanian stronghold near the Albanian border. 2)LA Times: Serbian police entered Glodjane, near the Albanian border 3)Independent: The media centre said one Serb policeman was wounded in a mortar near Glodjane on Tuesday 5)The ICTY transcripts use Glodjane ([1] 6)Humanitarian Law Center: Glođane/Gllogjan village
- @GorillaWarfare: I've advised for a move discussion, but it's a bit awkward that a move discussion should be filed to change the spelling/variant of a toponym in the context of the wartime event (an article about the village itself would use Gllogjan), which isn't even used in the article's bibliography, let alone other sources. If there was a move discussion it would concern Gllogjan and Glodjane, but Glođane wouldn't be a reasonable option IMO.--Maleschreiber (talk) 04:09, 7 September 2020 (UTC)
- I can't really advise here on the options—I stepped in administratively to stop the warring, but have next to no knowledge of the subject area. However it would seem that at least some people feel that "Glođane" ought to be one of the options, given the fact it was repeatedly moved to that location. I would just lay out all the various options and allow people to speak to which they think is best. GorillaWarfare (talk) 14:48, 7 September 2020 (UTC)
