Allied Victory disputed
[edit]I've been reading The Lions of Carentan. The Germans claim to have accomplished their goals of this battle on pages 162-163. They even set up a company command post. Don Brunett (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 21:34, 20 March 2015 (UTC)
On page 164 The Fallschirmjager had proved in every man to man battle to be stronger than their opponents. This despite the Allies having a huge material advantage. Don Brunett (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 21:42, 20 March 2015 (UTC)
- The Germans achieved a local victory by pushing out the 151st brigade of the 50th division but by the 12 September the town was back in 50th hands when they launched a counter attack finally driving out the Germans. The bridgehead battle, mainly at Ten Aard continued when the Germans fearing encirclement finally withdrew by 22nd September. Shire Lord (talk) 20:44, 24 March 2015 (UTC)
- This article need to be expanded in a big way - so will look into this soon; in particular the Germans (brief) recapture of the town. Shire Lord (talk) 20:58, 24 March 2015 (UTC)
