"Tanzania to the south"—state that it is a neighboring country
"The Tanzanians successfully occupied the area" remove "successfully", it comes off as POV
"The Tanzanians successfully occupied the area, killing hundreds of Libyans and ending their airlift in support of the Ugandan government. " You might consider rewording this sentence entirely: "The Tanzanians occupied the area, killed hundreds of Libyans, and ended the Libyan airlift in support of the Ugandan government."
"Tanzania blunted the assault" do you mean "Tanzania halted the assault"?

I checked some of the online sources. The only issue I found was "as was a battery of Ugandan 122mm guns at Katabi Barracks". The article cited mentions both Katabi barraks and 122mm guns, but does not support this statement.
