"back over the Rhine to Empel"
[edit]"Philip of Hohenlohe-Neuenstein breached the dikes of Bommelwaard, forcing the Spanish back over the Rhine to Empel."
This statement is erroneous, since Empel lies not on the banks of the Rhine but on the south (left) side of the river Maas (the Dutch name for the Meuse as it flows through the Netherlands).
The Waal channel of the river Rhine flows parallel to the Maas at this point, a few miles to the north, bordering the northern shore of the 'island' of the Bommelerwaard.
Changing accordingly.

Casualties and losses
[edit]@Archiepo Could you quote me what the new source says about the losses exactly? None of the Dutch sources I have read talk about many casualties, but just about an escape. Just like the Dutch source used in the article DavidDijkgraaf (talk) 12:36, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
- And the author is not an historian DavidDijkgraaf (talk) 12:38, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
- Hi David, it says on all of the articles that the Spanish were able to attack and burn the ships. On a side note, I also read from both the Spanish and Dutch articles that ships were captured and burnt, there just isn't an exact number regarding the statistic. I suppose I could reword it to "Several ships burnt or captured," as we don't know the exact number but we do know that ships were burnt and/or captured. Hope that clears things up, cheers!
