John H. Minks or Robert M. Morris
[edit]I love have studied this topic and have found two different names for the Union Captain at the Canada Alamosa battle. Both issued reports of the battle while under captivity which was aloud to be sent to the Union army in the region. Interestingly, both reports we have today are identical in terms of the stories course and the vocabulary used to descibe the engagement. Minks, or Morris, was captured at the engagement which could suggest Morris used the name "Minks" to hide his true identity from his captors, or the other way around.
Please help, if you have any information as to the true name of the Union Captain at Canada Alamosa, please feel free to add the information yourself, leave it here in this discussion page or leave the information on my talk page. I have used John H. Minks on this article because this is what the Union sources say, although a number of web pages list one of the two names which has made it pretty difficult to identify the true U.S. commander. Thank you. --Az81964444 (talk) 17:22, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
If interested in finding internet information about Morris or Minks, use google. Type either "John H. Minks, skirmish at Canada Alamosa" or "Robert M. Morris, skirmish at Canada Alamosa." If done correcty you should find several web pages describing the encounter and both the Minks and or Morris battle reports.
