“These two divisions, the 1st and 4th, had a strength of some 6,800 men.” Is this worded wrong? The Australians never had the kind of heavy casualties that would deplete two divisions down to only 6800 men. Shouldn’t it say something like “The number of Australian infantry engaged was 6,800.” “it encouraged the Allies to take further action with haste, before the Germans could consolidate their positions (see Meuse-Argonne Offensive).” What does the Meuse Argonne, in a different sector, have to do with the Allies taking further action with haste? Haig wanted to attack the Siegfried position behind Epehy before the Germans could consolidate their positions. The Germans were pushed back since the beginning of August by the British and French Armies along much of the western front but these conditions didn’t exist at the Argonne. Why not stick to the British front? The Meuse Argonne offensive was only one of many battles of the Grand Assault that were launched against the Hindenburg Line and its only significance was that it was started 24 hours before the others and was the last to succeed.Brocky44 23:01, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
Title of article
[edit]Would someone please tell me how to change the title of an article, or even if this can be done?
The title should read "Battle of Épehy", with the accent on the first "e", not the second. I've already changed the "e"s in the article itself, but can't seem to figure out how to do it in the title.
This is to have the article's title match that of the Wikipedia and Wikipédia pages on Épehy, as well as to conform with the geographic place name.
Thanks!
