[edit]Hey I am surprised there was not a disambiguation page here before (was there one, but it was deleted?). Thank you very much, User:This Works Too, for creating this disambiguation page, which is definitely needed. I notice its creation because I was given notification of its linking to Daisy Bates House, an article which i guess i created.
In the search bar, typing in "Bates House" suggests some other alternatives not yet in this page:
- Bates House (Bedford, Kentucky)
- Bates House of Turkey
Bates House and Outbuildings, no that was Batts House and Outbuildings instead
It happens that I've created a lot of disambiguation pages about houses in the past and have often found it useful to identify more items using a tool to look up National Register of Historic Places listings. I dunno, do you know about it already? Anyhow NRHP-listed houses are almost always notable and will get articles written for them, if there isn't one already. That tool suggests considering, at least:
- Bates Building (Cincinnati, Ohio) Done, added Bates Building as a "See also"
- Bates Cobblestone Farmhouse, Middlesex, New York]]
- Bates House (Bedford, Kentucky)
- Bates Log House, Lexington, Kentucky, NRHP-listed in Fayette County
- Bates Mill Historic District, Lewiston, Maine
- Bates Park Historic District, Des Moines, Iowa
- Bates Round Barn, Greene, New York
- Bates Tourist Court, Marshall, Arkansas
- Bates Well Ranch, Ajo, Arizona
- Asa Bates Memorial Chapel, Fairfield Center, Maine
- Cyrus Bates House, Henderson, New York
- Daisy Bates House, Little Rock, Arkansas
- John M. and Elizabeth Bates House No. 1, Portland, Oregon
- John M. and Elizabeth Bates House No. 2, Lake Oswego, Oregon, NRHP-listed in Clackamas County
- John M. and Elizabeth Bates House No. 3, Lake Oswego, Oregon, NRHP-listed in Clackamas County
- John M. and Elizabeth Bates House No. 4, Lake Oswego, Oregon
- Levin Bates House, Buechel, Kentucky, NRHP-listed in Jefferson County
- Martin M. Bates Farmstead, Richmond, Vermont
- Rufus and Flora Bates House, Ithaca, New York
- Sherman and Merlene Bates House, Hardy, Arkansas
- Sherman Bates House, Hardy, Arkansas
- William Bates House, Greenville, South Carolina
- Bates-Englehardt Mansion, St. Johnsville, New York
- Bates-Sheppard House, Cuero, Texas, [[National Register of Historic Places listings in DeWitt County, Texas|NRHP-listed in Dewitt County
- Bates-Tanner Farm, Bothell, Washington, NRHP-listed in Snohomish County
- Bates-Cockrem House, Sandusky, Ohio, NRHP-listed in Sandusky
- Bates-Geers House, Plato, Missouri
- Bates-Hendricks House, Indianapolis, Indiana
- Bates-Seller House, Portland, Oregon
- Elbert-Bates House, Albia, Iowa
- Grand-Bates Suburb Historic District, St. Louis, Missouri
- Judge Bates House, Houston, Mississippi
- Richardson-Bates House, Oswego, New York
The tool suggested more, but I edited down the above list already. Some won't be right to keep. About the hyphenated ones, I think those should be included because a hyphenated A-B House -type name usually means that both A House and B House have been commonly used, too. And places like "Bates Building" and "Bates Farm" should be included directly or mentioned in a "See also" type way.
User:This Works Too, I wonder, how did you find the many that you did? And what do you think about these, and thanks again! --Doncram (talk) 03:58, 17 April 2020 (UTC)
- I just searched "Bates House" on Wikipedia and added the first few that came up; the issue is that I was writing about a house typically called "Bate's House" (with an apostrophe) but when moving it around on my text document and sandbox I just started calling it Fenton-Bate House because that was less confusing and it IS a legitimate alternate name for the house. Add all of them if you are able :) This Works Too (talk) 04:33, 17 April 2020 (UTC)
