[edit]HI and THANKS to the authors. HOWEVER, I have a problem. What is meant by " It is usually pitched in 8' C or 9' B♭ today " I have a doctoral degree in conducting and teach ensembles, theory and skills, and have no idea. I think it's specific brass playing terminology. Can you describe this, or provide reference to pitch number. Int'l Acoustic Society would be best, where middle C is C4.
Also, there is mention of the tone quality compared to the trombone, but no reason for this. Is it a cylindrical vs. conical bore issue? Thanks! Psmeers (talk) 07:27, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
Thorough overhaul and revision, replete with images of piston and rotary valved bass trumpets in C and B♭. Ed_Solomon 16:05, 29 July 2005 (UTC)
This page needs information and ranges (beginners, easy, common difficulty and professional ranges) for writing/composing for this instrument.~lvb~
Wagner's bass trumpet
[edit]I have added some musings of my own on this subject to my Talk page

- It would be worthwhile to pick out one notable example. As you know, the Ring is almost 24 hours of music, and in a heavy orchestration with a bloated brass section it can be tough for the average listener to discern a bass trumpet from a bass Wagner tuba, regular tuba, bass trombone, horn in its low range, etc. Willi Gers07 (talk) 17:44, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
Broken Link
[edit]The "Friends & Relations: The Bass Trumpet" doesn't work. I'd delete it, but maybe someone wants to try fixing it first if the page has just moved... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.132.125.98 (talk) 15:56, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
Range
[edit]An empty "Range" section was just added. Wouldn't it be better to just put the "Range" box on this article, as was done with Trumpet & Cornet? If the range is the same and it reads in treble clef, the same diagram could be used. Special-T (talk) 00:10, 9 November 2020 (UTC)
J.C. Sherman article
[edit]J.C. Sherman (tubist and instrument maker based in Cleveland OH) has an interesting essay on his website about the bass trumpet which could inform this article.[1] — Jon (talk) 03:23, 23 August 2022 (UTC)
