More Stats
[edit]Any chance for more statistics on this Olympic games. There is a huge article on the controversal so called American loss to the Soviet Union's team including the statistocs and scores of that Olympic Games. Can we please do the same without any controvery section for this game. USE only credible sources. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.230.3.250 (talk) 04:06, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
- Why can't you get it that proper names like "Soviet Union", "Egypt", "Argentina", and "California" are always capitalized? It really ought to be done on automatic pilot.

Poor English in the title
[edit]Poor English in the title:
"Basketball at the 1988 Summer Olympics" should be
"Basketball in the 1988 Summer Olympics".
For another example, the Federal Government of the United States is in Washington, D.C., not "at Washington".
The Eiffel Tower is in Paris, not "at Paris".
The headquarters of the United Nations are in New York City, and not "at New York City".
The University of California at Santa Barbara is correct because that school is not in Santa Barbara, but rather it is at Santa Barbara (close to it). All of the campuses of the Univ. of California follow the same terminology, such as the University of California at San Diego and the University of California at Riverside, which is not all in Riverside, California.
It is rather hard to believe how people cannot keep straight the simple prepositions "at", "in", "on", and "by". In English, these are all pretty simple.

NBA
[edit]I have created an account in order to engage in a more productive conversation regarding User:JimKaatFan's reverts of referenced content, using misleading summaries and accusations of vandalism. The User cites the "long-standing version" they themselves introduced in December 2021 and pretends there's no real difference between our revisions. This is not true. The User's revision does not mention the fact that only NBA players were prevented from competing, while other leagues entered their players with no restrictions. I do not understand their motivation for removing that content. Xkpsy (talk) 10:20, 16 April 2023 (UTC)
- the first sentence of the second paragraph in the lead is "This was the last Olympic basketball tournament where NBA players were not allowed to participate" so I don't know what you're talking about. JimKaatFan (talk) 18:13, 6 May 2023 (UTC)
- Dear User:JimKaatFan, your revision fails to mention that only NBA players were ineligible to participate, while players from all the other leagues were not. I assume that is not something to be omitted. Furthermore,

is WP:OR. Thank you. Xkpsy (talk) 21:58, 6 May 2023 (UTC)- ALL players were eligible to compete, apart from NBA players. That's obvious. Also, you are edit warring, which I warned you not to do. Please stop and obtain consensus for your changes before you make them again. JimKaatFan (talk) 22:11, 6 May 2023 (UTC)
