Minimal Basis Set
[edit]This article doesn't really address the subject of a minimal basis set correctly. The section claiming to do so seems to address Slater-type Orbitals (STO). A minimal basis set is one which accomodates all the electrons in the ground state and completes the shell thereafter. (Szabo & Ostlund, Modern Quantum Chemistry, Dover, 1989 p. 184) This can be done with Slater orbitals, Gaussian orbitals, etc. --L. Belcher
Dunning's basis sets

Valence only? I'm not so sure... I think 'cc-pV' should be read 'correlation consistent' and 'polarized valence'. Effective Core Potentials
[edit]Would anyone be willing to write something about effective core potential basis sets such as LANL2DZ and SDD? That article is quite physics heavy. It's quite common for chemists to used ECPs for metals and Pople type basis sets for ligands but I think few people who actually do this understand what an ECP is (including me).Pelirojopajaro (talk) 22:14, 15 February 2017 (UTC)
