Curaçao

[edit]

I find it interesting that Curaçao was invited to play in the Olympic tournament, since they are not (or at least, not at that point) a member of the IOC. Paploo 23:51, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Taiwan/Chinese Taipei Debate

[edit]

As the IOC and IBAF, who are sponsoring this tournament, only recognize the country as Chinese Taipei. Shouldn't they be referred to as such? I mean no disrespect towards the people of Taiwan, but it would be akin to changing the name of the Seattle Mariners to the Washington Mariners to be respectful of Mariners fans in the entire state. As such since the IBAF and IOC sponsor this tournament and refer to it as Chinese Taipei, the country should be shown as Chinese Taipei. Shootmaster 44 01:13, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I added a note to the Asian Qualifier to explain the situation though. I hope that is sufficient in satisfying what you intended. Shootmaster 44 01:15, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Chinese Taipei has not yet qualified for Olympics.

[edit]

After the fifth day of competition, it is still possible to have a three-way tie in which Chinese Taipei, Canada and Germany are at 5-2. If Germany defeats Canada 1-0, perhaps in extra innings, it is possible that both Germany and Canada would advance and not Chinese Taipei.

I realize that such a scenario is highly unlikely, but we still must account for it.Joel225sp (talk) 18:26, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK, Mexico's win over Germany puts Chinese Taipei in the Olympics.Joel225sp (talk) 08:15, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
