I'm going to quickfail this review, because the expand lead tag at the top still applies to the article, and because it is a long way from meeting the criteria. See below for some specific problems with the article. I notice that you have barely edited the article, and in fact did not edit the article at all before nominating it. It would benefit with an expansion of information and a major copy edit before nominating it again. Steelkamp (talk) 11:04, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
Good article criteria
[edit]Well written
[edit]- As the tag at the top of the article says, the lead is too short. Steelkamp (talk) 11:04, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
- There are a bunch of grammatically bad sentences, such as:
Further along Church Road is (2021) the closed-down...
Steelkamp (talk) 11:04, 17 November 2022 (UTC)but which is only under arable in its northern part.
Steelkamp (talk) 11:04, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
- Does village hall have to be capitalised? Steelkamp (talk) 11:04, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
Oddly, the present main built-up area just described used to comprise two Siamese-twin settlements which had their own churches and administration until the late 18th century.
This isn't written in the Wikipedia style. Specifically, the words "oddly" and "just described". Steelkamp (talk) 11:04, 17 November 2022 (UTC)What is more remarkable is that up until 1787 the parish had three churches.
Same as above. Steelkamp (talk) 11:04, 17 November 2022 (UTC)- The 19th century, 20th century and 21st century history sections suffer badly from proseline. Steelkamp (talk) 11:04, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
St Mary's Church is redundant and not used for regular worship (there are occasional liturgical services), and is...
Generally, brackets make for bad writing. Steelkamp (talk) 11:04, 17 November 2022 (UTC)In 2010, a new variety of hybrid peony was brought out which was named Barton Bendish after the village.
What does "brought out" mean? Steelkamp (talk) 11:04, 17 November 2022 (UTC)- What does "Village situation" mean? Steelkamp (talk) 11:04, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
- No need for italics for road names. Steelkamp (talk) 11:04, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
- Does "Enclosed" have to be capitalised? Steelkamp (talk) 11:04, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
- In general, the article suffers from too many subsections, when larger paragraphs that flow from one to the next would be better. The most egregious example is the sections on St Andrew’s Church and St Mary’s Church. That consists of one sentence in a section for two sections in a row. The same problem applies to the history sections and the geography section. Steelkamp (talk) 11:04, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
Verifiable with no original research
[edit]- 2010 census or 2011 census? Lead says 2010 but the infobox and rest of the article says 2011. Steelkamp (talk) 11:04, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
- Is the data for the 2021 census released yet? Steelkamp (talk) 11:04, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
- I think the census website would be preferred over https://www.citypopulation.de/. Steelkamp (talk) 11:04, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
- There's a bunch of sentences with no citations. Steelkamp (talk) 11:04, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
Broad in its coverage
[edit]- The list of people on the war memorial is unnecessary detail. Steelkamp (talk) 11:04, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
The parliamentary constituency is South West Norfolk.
Does the village tend to vote Conservative? Labour? Steelkamp (talk) 11:04, 17 November 2022 (UTC)There is no bus service.
Don't mention something that's not there, unless sources specifically mention that the town does not have a bus service and that it is unusual for the town not to have a bus service. Steelkamp (talk) 11:04, 17 November 2022 (UTC)- I assume there is more to the history of this village than what is stated in the article. Book sources would be a good place to look.
