Notability
[edit]Currently, this song fails WP:NSONG. I'll give it a couple of days for someone to find some indication that it passes WP:SONG. Failing that, I will redirect it. - SummerPhD (talk) 13:53, 26 June 2011 (UTC)
-- Agree to redirect, too early to set it as an article, redirect to Barry Gibb will be fine at present. In the future? I don't know. It may become notable soon, but as a new song, too early to be set. Parabola1999 (talk) 14:45, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

[edit]SummerPhD i couldn't understand could you explain to me and thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ahmedunbreakabletato (talk • contribs) 14:28, 26 June 2011 (UTC)
- I think you are talking about the comment above and the templates I've placed on the page (that you have now been warned for removing without addressing).
- One tag is for notability. To summarize: Most songs are not notable, so they should not have articles about them. To be notable (per WP:NSONG), songs must either chart, win notable awards or be released by several different artists. Additionally, we need independent reliable sources that discuss the song in some degree of detail. We have none of these things.
- The other tag is for primary sources. We need sources for the article that are independent of the subject. The only source we have is from Gibb's own page. This is clearly not an independent source when discussing one of his songs.
- Putting all of this together, we should not have an article about this song. The applicable guideline says we should replace this article with a redirect. This is what I plan to do. If/when I do this, people looking for this article will instead be taken to an article that mentions this song, such as Barry_Gibb#Discography. Thanks. - SummerPhD (talk) 17:57, 26 June 2011 (UTC)
i will make it fit the WP:SONGS — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ahmedunbreakabletato (talk • contribs) 02:18, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
- I think I've been sending you to the wrong page. WP:SONGS is not what you need to be concerned with. We're talking about the song's notability. The guidelines you should be focusing on are discussed at WP:NSONG: "Most songs[note 5] do not rise to notability for an independent article and should redirect to another relevant article, such as for the songwriter, a prominent album or for the artist who prominently performed the song. Songs that have been ranked on national or significant music charts, that have won significant awards or honors or that have been independently released as a recording by several notable artists, bands or groups are probably notable."
- You cannot "make" the song notable. Either it is notable or it isn't. To be notable, it needs to:
- 1) have charted ("been ranked on national or significant music charts" or
- 2) "won significant awards" or
- 3) been released by another notable artist.
- As this does not seem to be the case, this article should be redirected. - SummerPhD (talk) 02:29, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
Official single cover

Charts
[edit]I have again removed the empty charts section, showing that the song has not charted. If we're going to have a "charts" section for a song that has not charted, we should have a "CD" section for the non-existent CD, a "Uses in other media" section to show that it has not appeared in movies or TV shows, an "Extended dance remix" section for the extended dance remix that doesn't exist, etc.
If/when it charts, we can add it. Until then, this pointless. - SummerPhD (talk) 13:50, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
about WP:NSONG
[edit]hi i've fixed it by adding the online rating of the songs which is 5/5 stars so don't delete it or redirect it Ahmedunbreakabletato (talk) 14:47, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
- What aspect of WP:NSONG to you feel that satisfies? Online ratings are not "charting", "significant awards" or being released by another artist.
- You cannot "make" the song notable. Either it is notable or it isn't. To be notable, it needs to:
- 1) have charted ("been ranked on national or significant music charts" or
- 2) "won significant awards" or
- 3) been released by another notable artist. - SummerPhD (talk) 21:39, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
the song don't enter charts yet so we have to wait until it enter Ahmedunbreakabletato (talk) 15:38, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
- The article should not be created until it enters the charts. I'll redirect it. Then, assuming it does chart, you can restore the article with the chart information. - SummerPhD (talk) 13:49, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
