Death date

[edit]

2008 October 13 or 14? We now say 14. But our formal sources disagree:

  • 13. ref#1 Fantastic Fiction [1]; also our Ext link LCCN [2]
  • 14. ref#4 Locus obituary 2008-10-16 [3]; also our Ext link ISFDB [4]

[13] The Independent obituary 2008-10-27 [5] says 13 and gives PoD Shrewsbury. (Library of Congress cites this source and gives those basic data, from which I put Shrewsbury in infobox and persondata templates.)

P.S. That is a full obituary, unlike the blurbs we now cite, and it should be used as a general source to expand the Stub prose. --P64 (talk) 00:03, 23 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

13. The Guardian by Michael Moorcock 2008-11-12 [6] -- This is another full obituary, one month delayed (just now I added other obit publ dates above). It gives variant birth date 1937-04-07. It supports nickname "Barry".
13. SFE. "Bayley, Barrington J." Entry by 'JC', John Clute. -- another source that must be generally useful here

John Clute wrote The Independent obituary (thanks to French Wikipedia, FR.wiki) as well as the SFE Encyclopedia entry.
other-language wikis DE FR PL give deathdate 2008-10-14 but evidently rely on Locus and ISFDB only
