[edit]The Complete Peerage begins their account of the family with Patrick de Courcy, the second of this list, attested as a magnate from 1221, and says his parentage is unknown. The peerage may date from c. 1340, or later, and the 1397 patent "has been mistaken by many modern writers" as a confirmation of peerage. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 20:22, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
