Filming

[edit]

Filming in Canada took place in Montreal and, contrary to popular belief, not in the Laurentians, but in the Eastern Townships, South of Montreal. Austin and Magog, Quebec played home to much of the film, an area close to Richler's heart for the final thirty years of his life. In fact, many scenes in the film were shot in Richler's former cottage, still owned by his family to this day. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.232.102.94 (talk) 03:34, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have any sources for that? BOVINEBOY2008 04:22, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

deviation from book

[edit]

How about a short section on major deviations from the book? First of all, the movie does not really capture the reason why it is called "Barney's Version" i.e. that it is really an auto-biography by Barney, with footnotes from his son. Instead the movie tells the story by going forward in Barney's "present" day and arbitrarily cutting back to the past, moving towards the present.
