Lamp Status
[edit]I do not know enough about the technical aspects to confidently edit the article, but the following should be noted: while the high-intensity lighthouse lamp is inoperative (largely because it is obsolete), there is a lantern that is lit from dusk to dawn. This lantern is still visible out to the horizon during clear nights, but is not intended to be visible during inclement weather (although an active foghorn is still present at the opposite end of the inlet). --Thisisbossi 22:47, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

Photos
[edit]I have a number of photos available on WikiMedia and tried to choose the best of that batch for this article. The three I have included are because one shows the full tower at dusk with the entry visible (though silhouetted), another because it shows the lighthouse along the waterfront (but without the entry), and the third because it shows the recent restoration work. Is the gallery OK or should we just stick with one picture only? --Thisisbossi 12:10, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
- Made a page in WikiCommons for the pictures, then added a link on this article's main page. That way, best of both worlds. :) -Ebyabe 13:55, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks! --Thisisbossi 22:21, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
- Just a note to other users: I believe that all the photos we have now are adequate, unless they can be improved upon. There is one photo showing the restoration, one showing it by the water, one by the beach, and one at night. Granted, my photos are not the highest resolution, so if others can match similar conditions at higher res -- feel free to replace mine. I will see if I can obtain better images, but I haven't been on LBI too much recently. --Thisisbossi 01:18, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
- Does anyone have usable images of the lighthouse in an older setting, or perhaps the first lighthouse? I have numerous images in books, but of course they are copyrighted. :/ --Bossi (talk ;; contribs) 19:55, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
Assessment
[edit]No wonder I thought this article felt like a B the first time around: it was almost a complete direct copy of this! I have completely rewritten the article and added in more sources, which should meet the indicated argument against a B class (therefore I ugpraded it again). It is difficult to properly footnote the sources due to the scattered locations of data from each source, but I welcome sourcing gurus to have at it, if you wish. Should there be additional reasons why this article should not be a class B, feel free to downgrade it and provide your reasoning. Thanks! --Thisisbossi 01:18, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
How tall?
[edit]Is it the second tallest or the fourth tallest in the US? It can't be both. --76.117.164.50 (talk) 11:57, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
