Orion's cloak

[edit]

Is Barnard's Loop the same thing as Orion's cloak, named so by Cuwie et al. in 1979? [1] Or is one a part of the other? --Neitram (talk) 07:56, 24 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

According to Cowie et al, Barnard's loop was part of it, but "Orion's cloak" never really caught on as a name, so this is a bit moot. PaddyLeahy (talk) 11:52, 30 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Age and runaways: contradictions.

[edit]

Article gives a supernova 2 MY ago as the loop’s cause, with 3 specific stars (with WP links to their own articles) as runaways from the event. But those stars’ articles are not in close agreement. One says 5 MYa, one says 2.5 MYa, and at least one says the cause was a collision of a pair of multiple-star systems.

Is there a consensus on the story? If not, one or more of the articles needs to clarify that the cause is not known with certainty. Jmacwiki (talk) 01:30, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
