- Peer Review
- Overall, you guys did a great job editing the article and added a lot of valuable information
- Given the rise in obesity among adolescents, I appreciate the addition of a few paragraphs on considerations in this patient population
- Great job of updating a significant number of citations and adding links to other Wikipedia articles
- The article is also very readable
- Good job adjusting the formatting to align with the Wikipedia Manual
- Great job providing quality information while remaining neutral
- Planned edits based on the workplan were all met
- Possible edits:
- Given that there are multiple techniques it may be helpful to add more information regarding which procedures may be preferred based on patient characteristics or comorbidities
- Could be helpful to add more detail to the captions for the images in the techniques section
- For the section on adolescent patients, I know the current literature is limited, but are there any reviews that discuss short-term outcomes for these patients and demonstrate that it can be a successful procedure in terms of quality of life or short-term weight loss? If so, it may be helpful to add a couple sentences about this.

Other ethnic groups
[edit]Might the article discuss the impact of bariatric surgery on diverse ethnic populations? Are there variations in outcomes among different ethnic groups, or is there a particular group more susceptible to long-term complications following weight loss procedures? Merge proposal
[edit]The new article on Stomach reduction surgery does indeed overlap with this one, so I support the May proposal to merge it to here. Klbrain (talk) 08:55, 19 June 2024 (UTC)
- @G.J.ThomThom: you've moved a student article from users space to main space creating what appears to be a duplicate topic; you might want to comment if you think that there are are substantive scope differences that warrant a new article. Klbrain (talk) 08:59, 19 June 2024 (UTC)
Biased search blurb
[edit]The blurb for this article in the search bar reads "Invasive procedures aimed to force an obese person to a limited food intake." This rings unnecessarily strident, as though it were passing a value judgment against the concept of bariatric surgery; I'd reword it to something like "Surgical procedure for management of obesity" if I could, but I'm not quite sure how 216.16.137.230 (talk) 17:25, 8 July 2024 (UTC)
- Changed the "short description" to your good suggestion, with thanks. What search engine did you use to retrieve specifically the short description? Either within the Wikipedia search bar or Google, the first lines of the article lede come up for me. Zefr (talk) 18:46, 8 July 2024 (UTC)
- I was using the Wikipedia search bar (in Chrome) if it matters, but thanks for changing it 216.16.137.230 (talk) 13:27, 9 July 2024 (UTC)
