I have removed unenclycopaedic content. Article requires expansion - possible inclusion of:

development history,
types of barbed sutures (I'm not an expert in the field, but in my research I found that there may be an older 'barbed suture' from the 70's that was barbed at the ends, rather than along the length),
manufacturers
procedures it is commonly used in, and those where it is contraindicated

I would also suggest that this article may be a candidate for a merge with Surgical suture Tinkstar1985 05:34, 26 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
