1868 or 1863

[edit]

Someone added "The landship was created in either 1868 or 1863 no one knows for sure" to the start of the article. I took it out and copied it here for two reasons: First it is uncited. Is there a book, or a pamphlet, or a website, or anything else, we can mention that says these two dates? That would make it much more encyclopedic. Second, it messed up some of the formatting at the start of the page, but that's easy to fix. Please add a comment here if you know where we could look up the dates. --Nigelj (talk) 21:36, 7 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

1863

[edit]

The members of the Barbados Landship have known all along that the date of the establishment of the Landship was October 1863. This date appears on its stamp and recently on its letterhead. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Barbados Landship (talkcontribs) 04:38, 24 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Easter Workshop

The Landship Association will be celebrating the 150th year of the Movement on 28th October 2013. Given the significance of this landmark, the Barbados Landship is organizing a series of activities from April to October 2013 under the banner “Season of the Landship”.

The first of the activities of the Season is a workshop from 8th – 12th April 2013, being held in association with the National Cultural Foundation.

The workshop will be held at the Landship Dock, Licorish Village, My Lord’s Hill, St. Michael. Children and interested persons are accommodated between 9:30am and 3:30pm. Evening students and adults can participate in sessions from 5:00 to 7:00pm. Individual registration is $10 and registration by group is $50 for groups of six or more.

This workshop is designed to offer information and practical instruction by BLA members and other experts to interested persons. It will expose the participants to elements of the Landship and provide enough experience and information for groups to create Landships in their own spaces.

It also offers interested dance groups, drama groups, participants of the Ministry of Education CHEKS programme and other interested school groups, CXC Theatre Arts students, teachers, entertainers and band leaders an opportunity to gain knowledge about this cultural form. It is expected that persons would leave the workshop with the knowledge to form Landship groups or join with the BLA in anticipation of presentations for Crop Over in July 2013, in October 2013 for the Anniversary and ultimately for groups to sustain their existence.

Registration is at the Dock, Licorish Village, My Lord’s Hill, St. Michael – 7 a.m. – 11 a.m. and 12 Noon – 4 p.m. Contact the Landship at 427-9428 or 251-9375 or e-mail: landship@bango.org.bb for further information.

Space is limited so register early. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.124.254.127 (talk) 12:25, 17 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Rename: "Barbados Landship"

[edit]

Since the official Facebook page, the lead sentence, and most references refer to the organization as "Barbados Landship", so should the article be renamed. Anyone disagree? HopsonRoad (talk) 15:24, 29 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
