Zhending
[edit]Was Baoding formerly called Zhending (真定)? Badagnani (talk) 20:54, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
- I don't honestly know, but I suspect that the name Zhending actually applied to what is now Zhengding, just outside Shijiazhuang — my ability to read Chinese is poor, but I believe that the Chinese version of the article on Zhengding says as much in its history section. Wiktionary seems to agree. I could be wrong, of course, but maybe that's of some help. -- Vardion (talk) 01:37, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
Paotang
[edit]Anyone know if "Paotang" was an older name for Baoding or perhaps the Japanese name for it? W. B. Wilson (talk) 17:53, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
- First thing to check - is it the Wade–Giles version, now not used? Buckshot06 (talk) 09:36, 24 May 2012 (UTC)
The “three treasures” of Baoding
[edit]- http://www.fingerqigong.com/?Interesting_Facts%A0
Baoding, China is said to have three treasures. The first is the iron ball, the second is a sauce made from fermented flour, and the third is potherb mustard. These treasures have been passed down through the generations for over 300 hundred years. - http://www.chinahotelsreservation.com/China_Baoding_travel.html
The ballad "Baoding has three treasures, namely, iron ball, sauce made of fermented flour and potherb mustard" has been passed on from generation to generation for over 300 years.
Baoding balls are mentioned under Baoding#Culture, but the article is missing the other three treasures.
